Can You Handle the Truth?
Amid
the purged US Attorneys scandal that’s been brewing, one interesting fact about the lawyer at the center of it has popped up:
[David] Iglesias, 49, is a Navy Reserve commander whose role as a defense lawyer in a famous military hazing case was the basis for the Tom Cruise character in the movie A Few Good Men.
Seems kind of peculiar, right? Well, as it turns out, Iglesias is only one of several Bush appointees to have inspired famous movie characters. Here are a few more you might not be aware of:
- DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff – Gollum, The Lord of the Rings
- State Secretary Condoleezza Rice – Ice Planet Hoth, Empire Strikes Back
- Attorney General Alberto Gonzales – AIDS, Philadelphia
