Your Nerdly Neighborhood Spider-Gaffes
Spider-Man 3 may have topped the box office two weeks in a row, but it turns out that this movie about a man with spider powers who battles a man with sand powers while struggling against an alien with black goo powers has more “movie mistakes” than any other film this year.
Eagle-eyed fans posting on MovieMistakes.com have spied 16 inaccuracies in the third installment of the superhero’s big-screen outing, including continuity issues with Tobey Maguire’s hairstyle, his costume and ever-changing weather conditions.
16? Junkiness will see your 16 and raise you 13:
- At the start of the movie, Spider-Man’s “Spidey-sense” fails to alert him to the needless crying that follows for the next two hours.
- During the climactic face-off between Monkey-Knees and The Orange Meddler, a promotional cardboard cutout of Ted Danson murdering a young boy can be seen in the window.
- More than one woman is interested in having sex with Tobey Maguire despite the audience never being shown his possession of red roofies.
- In the cotton-candy scene, Peter Parker is visibly covered in pancakes from the waist down, even though the film is set more than 200 years before the invention of pans.
- The jazz club is repeatedly full of customers.
- In the beginnng of the movie, Aunt Mae tells Peter a husband has to put his wife before himself. Yet, in scene 23, you can just barely make out Aunt Mae fellating a homeless man on 38th Street.
- In the film, Topher Grace is an insufferable prick, whereas in reality, he’s an intolerable ass.
- In film, Russian landlord asks Peter Parker for rent. In Soviet Russia, Peter Parker asks landlord for YOU!
- In the battle between Spider-Man and Green Goblin, the RIGHT side of Goblin’s face comes in contact with an exploding pumpkin grenade. Yet, when Goblin appears later in the film, he still has a head.
- When Peter Parker accidentally hits MJ in the jazz club, she is horrified; however, the deleted “funky spider-sex party” scene in the Spider-Man 2 DVD extras clearly established that she likes it rough.
- A late edit removed the butler’s crucial motivation to console Harry when it deleted the line, “Now how about letting Daddy powder your little bottom.”
- Spider-Man’s cape is missing for the entire film.
