Darryl Hannah has come down from the walnut tree. We can all rest easy now. She’d been up there for the last 23 days in an effort to stop the eviction of farmers from an area of land in South Central Los Angeles. Unfortunately, Hannah’s efforts were for naught, as the owner of the land plans to build a warehouse on the site.

As for the walnut tree, it was understandably exhausted and depressed after the ordeal. “At first, when I saw that Darryl Hannah was climbing up me I was stoked, bro,” it told a reporter. “But soon after that it became clear that just like in Splash, I wasn’t going to get to see her completely naked. So the whole thing was a total letdown. Plus now I’m going to get chopped down. Fucking sucks.”
