Amid
all the election fervor in the US, it’s easy to forget there are a few other governments in the world. For example, the Australian Senate just voted to lift a ban on human cloning:
The Senate voted 34 to 32 to allow therapeutic cloning, which involves removing the nucleus of an unfertilized human egg and adding DNA to make it grow in a lab dish.
When reached for comment, one of the Senators who voted to end the ban said, “Crikey, mate! Now we can create a clone army of Steve Irwins equipped with genetically-engineered stingray-smashers where nature would’ve put nipples. They’ll be absolutely gorgeous creatures, mate! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to pick my boomerang up from the shop and then ride a kangaroo over to my didjeridoo lesson.”
